Issues with Inkscape

We recommend you to visit and subscribe to our YouTube channel at this link, where you will find many video tutorials that will help you with your projects!

We suggest you to subscribe to our YouTube channel or search directly for “PolyShaper tutorial” in order to access a series of videos teaching how to draw on Inkscape. Alternatively, you can subscribe to the Facebook group “PolyShaper Italia” and ask other PolyShaper users for advice.

Download the font you like, copy the .ttf file to the desktop, right click and choose “install for all users”. At this point just close and re-open Inkscape.

Plugin isseues

The PolyShaper plugin takes only “paths” as input while the element selected for cutting is an “object”. To convert it, select the drawing, go to the “Path” menu, then click on “from object to path”. Even if nothing seems to have changed, now the drawing is entirely composed of paths and you can access the plugin again and click on “apply” to create the cut file.

The PolyShaper plugin takes only “paths” as input while the element selected for cutting is an “object”. To convert it, select the design, go to the “Path” menu, then click on “from object to path”. Even if nothing seems to have changed, now the drawing is entirely composed of paths and you can access the plugin again and click on “apply” to create the cut file.

In old versions of the plugin this error occurs if the Graent machine is selected in the drop-down menu of the plugin or if accented or special characters are inserted in the file name.

Sometimes the cut file is created but this warning appears. This warning indicates that the drawing has been placed, partially or entirely, outside the work area.

This error appears when setting a workspace on the plugin greater than the selected machine; for example by setting for the Azul a size larger than 100 cm on X and 50 cm on Y

The PolyShaper plugin takes only closed paths as inputs, of course circles, polygons and letters are. A segment or a continuous line that does not close the end point on the initial point are instead open elements that cannot be processed. Sometimes this problem also occurs with vectors imported from other programs. To solve it, you need to close the vectors, then using the node pointer, locate the open nodes, select them and use the “Join nodes” button in the top menu

The PolyShaper plugin automatically calculates the cutting paths that connect the designed elements to each other. To do this, a high computing power is required. The calculation is aggravated by the presence on the drawing of many separate paths (for example a writing with many letters not joined together), by the presence of an excessive number of nodes on the paths. To solve the excessive number of distinct elements, a solution could be to draw the cutting path between one path and another. When, on the other hand, the number of nodes is excessive, you can use the “Simplify” tool in the “Path” menu.

Issues with Shaco

This means that ShaCo is not communicating with the machine. Possible causes can be: 1. Non-original or damaged USB cable 2. USB cable not correctly connected either to the machine or to the computer 3. Multiple ShaCo sessions open simultaneously 4. You are using a USB hub that is interposed between the USB socket of the computer and PolyShaper machine 5. You are using other USB devices such as printers, plotters, scanners 6. The drivers have not been installed correctly. In this case, contact technical support

This error occurs when communication between ShaCo and the PolyShaper machine is interrupted. The reasons can be many: 1. USB cable not compliant or different from the original one 2. Accidental or voluntary extraction of the USB cable 3. Active energy saving options: stand by, disk lock, screen saver 4. Only on MACOS, put in ShaCo second floor and working on other software 5. You are using a USB hub that is interposed between the USB socket of the computer and the PolyShaper machine 6. You are using other USB devices such as printers, plotters, scanners 7. If you are using a laptop, connect it to the power supply 8. Check that particularly heavy electrical loads (eg compressors) are not connected to the power supply line of the machine. In this case, use an alternative power line or put a UPS in front

Open the main folder of your computer, inside which is the PolyShaper folder with all the projects carried out. For each project there are three files: psi, gcode and svg. Delete them all to not show them on ShaCo anymore

Select any project then click on “Start cutting”; in the new screen find a “Wire on / Wire off” button. Click on it to turn the wire on / off

Hardware problems

Make sure that you have correctly followed all the instructions provided until the end, that is, until the first cut has been made Non-original or damaged USB cable Incorrectly connected USB cable or to the machine or computer Multiple ShaCo sessions open at the same time You are using a USB hub that is interposed between the USB socket of the computer and the PolyShaper machine. Other USB devices such as printers, plotters, scanners are being used. The drivers were not installed correctly. In this case, contact technical assistance

Check that you have correctly attached the motor according to the assembly instructions

Follow the video at the following link:

Make sure that the temperature of the wire is not too low. In this case it can be noticed that during the cut the thread inflates, bending in the opposite direction to that of the motion. In correct operation there must be no mechanical interaction between wire and polystyrene

Make sure that you have correctly followed the following points: : 1. Carefully go through all the instructions from the beginning for the last time 2. Check that the power supply is connected to the electrical socket 3. Check that the power supply is connected to the machine 4. Check that the power button is positioned on I and not O 5. USB cable not compliant or different from the original one 6. Accidental or voluntary extraction of the USB cable 7. Active energy saving options: stand by, disk lock, screen saver 8. On MacOS only, put ShaCo on the second floor and work on other software 9. You are using a USB hub that intervenes between the USB socket of the computer and the PolyShaper machine 10. You are using other USB devices such as printers, plotters, scanner 11. If you are using a laptop, connect it to the power supply. 12. Check that particularly heavy electrical loads (eg compressors) are not connected to the machine’s power line. In this case, use an alternative power line or put a UPS in front

Following the assembly instructions, make sure you have positioned all the components correctly and that you have respected the assembly directions

Disassemble the wire, scratch the eyelet of the springs where the wire is attached with a file and mount a new wire
